Final batch of reviews from this years @Mayhem_Festival. Disturbing slasher BONE LAKE, Dutch folk horror HERESY, supernatural chiller OCCUPANT OF THE ROOM, the darkly humoured PORTAL TO HELL and the brutal homage to Italian Giallos DEAD BY DAWN... https://t.co/tTBO7kc8ZE

An extra bonus, after HERESY, we were treated to a special screening of the new short ghost story (plus Q&A) from Kier-La Janisse, THE OCCUPANT OF THE ROOM.

Last night @mayhem_festival we saw #EventHorizon, a film I've never cared for..... Until last night. It shows how much a cinema can affect the feeling of a movie 😁👍

So far #Arbiter has been my favourite and the cast/director were amazing! The comedy was done to perfection!

Day Two of @mayhem_festival. I didn't get there in time for Iranian mystery CHESS OF THE WIND. I did see TRANSCENDING DIMENSIONS (JP), which wasn't really my cup of tea. But then we had the rather awesome THE ARBITER (UK) and REDUX REDUX (US) - what a double-whammy that was!!📽️

The penultimate film of this years @mayhem_festival PORTAL TO HELL, a wickedly fun, deadpan comedy about a depressed debt collector that discovers a portal to hell thats opened up at his local laundrette. Definitely worth checking out if you like Jet black humour...

Witte Wieven (@DidiKings1, Netherlands) was absolutely astounding. Without events like @mayhem_festival, I don't know how else one would access films liked this. https://t.co/QPXubkhsPR

And so, the final film of this years @mayhem_festival DEAD BY DAWN, a brutal slasher film from Poland, that plays like a homage to the Italian Giallos of the 70s/80s with a Lovecraftian twist at the end. Definitely worth seeking out...

Very happy to have seen Portal to Hell on the big screen at @mayhem_festival, and to have shown it to my teen. More poignant the second time around.

The Occupant of the Room (Kier-La Janisse, Canada) was an excellent adaptation of the Blackwood story. Thanks again, @mayhem_festival. https://t.co/dBeoF3VfCk

So, first film of Day 4 of the @mayhem_festival Mercedes Bryce Morgan's BONE LAKE. Wow, not your average slasher as a double booking at an AirBnB goes awry. A darkly comical messed up horror, loved it!!! 😀

BULK (Ben Wheatley, UK) was ace, and even better: I got to talk to the man briefly, and came away with a soundtrack CD. Thanks @mayhem_festival. https://t.co/CwsSLAhqqE

Man Finds Tape (Paul Gandersman & Peter S. Hall, USA) is suddenly my favourite film of @mayhem_festival so far. Even Ben Wheatley will have to beat that. Almost pulled out of the film by recognising two actors, but it still worked great. https://t.co/RyYW68ruij

Watched the McManus Brothers' REDUX REDUX at @mayhem_festival. Totally gripping from the very start and never lets you go. Compelling viewing. Excellent performances, slick cinematography and a cool soundtrack. Look out for this from @BlueFinchFilms. #ReduxRedux
