There are better solutions to safety on Roblox than age restricting the chat. Education is better than people bypassing the chat age groups and exposing themselves to dangerous behavior unintentionally. Here's a great example:

I decided to rewrite the replication for my game to consume 4x less resources now, but I also finally added a Damage Overlay when hurt, it's based off the default roblox one, but tweaked a bit to not be as fast #RobloxDev #SonicTheHedgehog

I honestly understand why they are doing this, but it sucks if you are trying to add someone off of Roblox and both parties have no ill intentions. I've met so many new friends through Roblox that I have added off platform
Roblox placed a system where it will now detect what you're sending via Chat. After multiple violations you will be suspended temporarily, this is similar to Voice Chat. #RobloxDevs #RobloxDev #VoiceChat #Chat #New #Moderation #Roblox
