The fact that @RoxanaAthletics is continuing to take input and adjust their plan gives me hope that enough schools will eventually vote for it.
Proposed IHSA playoff change: Field drops from 384 → 320 teams. Straight seeding 1–40, with 1–24 getting byes. 25–40 play in for a spot in the field of 32. Current models: all 4–5 teams in, 3–6 at-large. Cutoff = 43 points.

I've now read the proposal and more importantly I listened to @ViewFromWestPod and @thesouc break it down. While it might not be perfect, it's a far better system than what we currently have in the long run. Thanks to @RoxanaAthletics for the extensive work that they've done.
Illinois high school football doesn't need more playoff qualifiers. It needs a system where every school has an equitable opportunity to qualify for the postseason. It shouldn't be this difficult. Illinois coaches need to figure out district play. It's the only true solution.

A proposal has been put forth to the IHSA to expand the playoff field by 96 teams and introduce a flexed regional scheduling concept to ease the pressures for teams having difficulties putting together a full football schedule
