1/ On COVID-19 ward -- LatinX Spanish-speaking pt Me: "We may need to transfer you to the ICU" Patient: "I'd rather go home. I have supplements that will make me better." Me: "I'm worried. You're very sick." Patient: "I don't feel sick."

2/ Me: "Your oxygen is very low. You may need to be on a ventilator" Patient: "Ventilators are not good. They kill people" Me: "I understand what you feel right now. Can I share what I know and what I see and hear?"

3/ **I take stethoscope and have patient listen to my lungs & then her lungs** **I show her a chest x-ray of healthy lungs and compare to hers side by side** **I place pulse oximeter on me and then on her** **Silence...then tears**

4/ Patient: "I didn't think this was real. My family told me this wasn't real." **I hold her hand. More tears*** Misinformation & disinformation is real. While burnout & exhaustion from this long road is real for us as clinicians, we must dig deep and have compassion.

5/ Many of our patients also feel mistrust. In this study, LatinX waited 1 extra day (compared to non-Latinx) to receive hospital COVID-19 care. Following COVID-19 hospitalization, Latinx reported delaying ED visit 2/2 mistrust.
