"This is not an ideological argument, but a pragmatic one. Private healthcare takes away from the NHS both in terms of staff and resources, and is more expensive for the taxpayer"

Streeting/Labour has a responsibility to stem the flow of public resources from the NHS to shareholder pockets. Tory ideology and exploitation of public services has to stop. There’s a reason they’ll be voted out.

Instead of throwing money at private hospitals in a vain attempt at cutting waiting lists, why not invest it in the NHS instead?

There are private companies already commissioned by the NHS. Stop using them on day 1? Seriously? A Labour Health Sec will have no option but to continue patching a threadbare service. The scale of the necessary remedies for our health service will take time and money.

In the UK, there is basically one party - the business party. It has two factions, called Labour & Conservatives which are somewhat different but carry out variations on the same policies. By & large, I am opposed to those policies.

A bigger problem in using private hospitals is that they lack the ability to deal with problems that can arise during treatment. They don’t have ITU or the skilled staff to deal with some life-threatening conditions.
