The Minister for Common Sense said on #bbcqt that common sense means "working on behalf of the people to bring pragmatism into politics" Can we have public ownership of water, energy, buses, rail, Royal Mail and NHS please? (1/2)

Interestingly, the Minister did praise Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen for bringing the airport into public ownership And she said common sense was about not working in silos Time for public services for people not profit! (2/2)

@CatHobbs Public ownership and public control. No more underhand dealing by corrupt politicians.

@CatHobbs If we can’t get a publicly owned Royal Mail, I’d love for other couriers to be regulated by Postcom, and face the same fines for failure to meet a universal service order.

@CatHobbs Now do a poll but tell them how much it will cost to have all that in public ownership!

@CatHobbs Now tell everyone how much tax money they would need to put in to buy these back and see what their response would be. Shell and BP alone will cost us a quarter of a trillion at current value.

@CatHobbs Some of us are old enough to remember all those services when they were publicly owned. We also remember how awful & inefficient they were. Why? Because they were run on our behalf by civil servants. Government has an appalling record at running services. We must not go back.
