Cat in Sheffield the tram system is being taken back into council ownership from April 2024 from stagecoach. The trams have been run by stagecoach since 1998 but that is about to end. Also bus regulation in Sheffield and south Yorkshire is being planned as well

I think what Andy Burnham is doing in regulating the buses in the greater Manchester area is a good first step away from the deregulation chaos introduced in 1986. Eventually I hope the whole service can be under council ownership and management to in the future

the blueprint was Ken Livingstone's transformation of Transport for London two decades ago that Andy Burnham has taken up, to his credit. I'm surprised that Livingstone's is not mentioned in this article when TfL is referenced.
