New COIDA ambulance tariffs published. In metro area < 60 min: BLS R2596, ILS R3431, ALS R5445. We need to find a way of billing without creating perverse incentive to upgrade calls to ALS (e.g. by giving morphine).@NxesiThulas @HPCSA_ @AlexvandeHeever @Netcare911_sa @ER24EMS

With South Africa's levels of alcohol-related trauma and interpersonal violence, we sure could benefit from minimum unit pricing. @HealthZA, what are we waiting for?.
The implementation of #alcohol minimum unit price legislation leads to significant reductions in ⚰️ deaths and in hospitalisations, wholly attributable to 🍺🥃🍷alcohol consumption.

An amazing achievement. @HealthZA MUP is a proven strategy to reduce alcohol-related harms. South Africa needs to show similar courage.
Looking back on my years in @scotgov this is one of the policies I'm proudest of. It was controversial and difficult but I'm glad we persevered to overcome all the political and court challenges because, as this study suggests, it is saving lives 1/2
