I’ve always loved train travel. There’s something special about settling into a window seat and watching the landscape drift past. And as a wheelchair user, that joy only grows when the journey feels...

Labour wants to scrap PIP for those with "lower needs" i.e. scoring 3 or less for each activity. Let’s look at what that means. Need someone to lift you in and out of the shower? = 3 points. Need someone to dress your lower body – to put on your pants and trousers? = 2 points.

I’m writing a piece for @TelegraphTravel covering 10 of the ‘best accessible’ visitor attractions in London. Accessibility is so nuanced so I’d love recommendations to include from fellow disabled people. Where, and why? #DisabilityTwitter #JournoRequest

The saddest thing about this platform imploding is the loss of #DisabilityTwitter, which was not only a hive-mind but a place of mutual support for so many of us. Where are we going? Threads? Bluesky? Somewhere else? I don't have capacity for loads of platforms but I miss DT.

Oxenholme is my local station. In my experience, the staff have always been excellent, and I often use them as an example of assistance done right. But this is at least the third time passengers have been locked in the station! Not good enough.

Stuart Flett says there should be more intercoms after he was stranded for more than an hour.

What works for me might not work for a deaf person or someone with dementia. The needs of disabled people are diverse and multifaceted, and it’s vital that we acknowledge this in discussions of accessible travel. No city is perfect, but these 10 are making significant strides.

Travelling as a disabled person presents a unique set of challenges that often go overlooked. From navigating cobblestone streets to finding truly accessible accommodation, it’s clear that “fully accessible” remains an unhelpful and often inaccurate term.
