Normal people who just wanted to do work & got caught in the madness

Throwing rocks at, shoving, and harassing Jewish students is not legitimate protest. We shared this video a year ago during the encampment to show what Jewish students were experiencing. Since then, the calls for violence have only grown more explicit. https://t.co/53afHnTSsb

A judge in New York tells lawyers for Columbia University anti-Israel activists that the protest encampment was 'permeated' with antisemitism: 'You guys call it anti-Zionism. The reality is there was a lot of antisemitism taking place'

It was an honor to welcome President @BillClinton to @ColumbiaIGP to mark the 30th anniversary of the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin. It was a meaningful evening reflecting on Rabinโs life & legacy, and on our own capacity to choose dialogue over division and hope over despair.

He did & he was right. The anti-Israel protesters were a privileged mob terrorizing their Jewish cohorts. As time marches on these elite bullies will either be memory holed as a national embarrassment, or studied as an example of a social contagion.
Good reminder that Josh Shapiro compared students wearing Keffiyehs while protesting for Palestine on their campus in Philadelphia to KKK members wearing their white hoods.

A wonderful celebration for a special Insitute at @Columbia
Congratulations to @ColumbiaIIJS on its 75th Anniversary Celebration this evening. Kudos to the faculty, staff and students who all contribute to a thriving Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies

Thirty years after the Rabin assassination, itโs clear the writing was already on the wall in 1995. Violent fundamentalism was and is a danger to the region then, and it remains the greatest danger to the region now. Some of the things said last night at an event commemorating

Baconi was also (of course) a visiting scholar at @Columbia's Middle East Institute, which at this point is best known for churning out "academics" that justify and celebrate Oct. 7th.
๐งตYesterday, @Columbia's Center for Palestine Studies hosted an event with Tareq Baconi, president of Al-Shabaka, a think tank which has repeatedly justified Oct 7th. Baconi has referred to Oct 7th as "an unprecedented display of anti-colonial violence." (1/)

Columbia is once again platforming individuals with ties to sanctioned or terror groups, and allowing professors that discriminated against Jewish and Israeli students to operate with impunity. None of the professors that blocked Jewish students were ever disciplined. (7/7)

This isn't the first time that @Columbia has hosted individuals tied to Al-Haq. In 2024, Columbia hosted Al-Haq official Wesam Ahmad, who is a "sustaining donor" of Al-Shabaka. (6/) https://t.co/7gGNtJ45TF

According to @NGOmonitor, Al-Shabaka has financial ties to Al-Haq, which has been sanctioned by the United States and designated as a terrorist group by Israel. Following Oct. 7th, Switzerland pulled all funding from Al-Shabaka. (5/) https://t.co/ss8c7J3028

Prof. Robcis was also interviewed by the New York Times as a faculty member who participated in the encampment, including "guard[ing] outside the perimeter." (4/) https://t.co/CPZt58scpv

At U.C.L.A., a few professors helped negotiate with the university. At Columbia, they guarded the encampment. But not all faculty members are on board.

The event was moderated by Prof. Camille Robcis, who participated in blocking Jewish students during the encampment, yet never faced any consequences for doing so. (3/)

On Oct. 8, 2023, Al-Shabaka put out a statement in support of the massacre. Its employees, led by Baconi, have since made dozens of statements justifying Oct 7th. (2/) https://t.co/UMsOn5j9Nm

Despite threats of a protest, the event went smoothly except for a camera operator that decided to wear a keffiyah towards the end of the event. Extremely unprofessional behavior from a member of @Columbia's events staff.
Incredible and emotional event tonight honoring Yitzhak Rabin at @Columbia, featuring President Bill Clinton, Secretary Hillary Clinton, Ambassador Jack Lew, Nadav Eyal, and Ambassador Dennis Ross. Thank you @cbhillel and @ColumbiaIGP for organizing!
