Every train into Aberdeen has been full and standing for hours now. Unfortunately, 80,000 residents living north of the city have no rail connection to make their way in for the festival. It's time to extend the East Coast Main Line to Fraserburgh and Peterhead! @FionaHyslop

Cove is home to a larger population than Newburgh and Winchburgh, and will sit at the heart of Aberdeen's ETZ! Cove is essential to make a success of the just transition. Investment in North East Rail is a priority for Scotland's Economy. @FionaHyslop.

This Friday we spoke at a excellent event organised by AGCC. Speakers included @NetworkRailSCOT, @ScotRail, @LNER, and @CalSleeper. Thanks to all for a fantastic discussion, a clear passion in the room for the potential rail can unlock in the North East.

One year on, and there is no doubt that reconnecting Levenmouth has been a success! Now is the time to ask where's next. Fraserburgh and Peterhead are the largest towns, the furthest from a railway station anywhere in the UK - an area with a larger population than Stirling!.
It’s the 1st anniversary of the re-opening of the Levenmouth rail line - great achievement for the people of Fife and Scotland.

"But the standout suggestion from the hundreds of replies we received was loud and clear - the people want the railways ripped up in the 60s and 70s restored.". The people of the North East overwhelmingly want to see Buchan reconnected @FionaHyslop.

A great summary of all the projects being fought for in the North East!. In the short term, 1600 (and rising) signatures on a petition for new stations at Cove/NH is encouraging. Larger than Winchburgh and Newburgh, these have to be next @FionaHyslop.

Scrapping Peak Fares last year resulted in a 7% increase in patronage. A permenant end to peak time could result in year on year growth in passenger numbers on the Scottish rail network. Great if you are connected, it's time to extend the East Coast Line northwards to Buchan!.
BREAKING: First Minister John Swinney says peak rail fares in Scotland will be "scrapped for good" from September.

The newly reopened Northumberland line already has outperformed it's estimated patronage by 500% with only half of its stations open!. At what point do we consider our methods for appraisal unfit for their purpose? Every rail project in Scotland too has outperformed expectations!.
passenger numbers for the reopened Northumberland Line are "five times their original estimate". the way the DfT estimates ridership for rail projects is very obviously broken, with negative implications on what actually gets built

The local news, print and radio are all featuring this story today. People in the North East are talking about these badly needed upgrades. It's time to get them out of @transcotland "consideration" and into development! @FionaHyslop.
LNER recently celebrated a 20 min saving between Edinburgh and London, reducing it to 4 hours. Average Speed - 83mph!. The journey between Aberdeen and Edinburgh is still on average 2 hours 25. Average Speed - 36mph!. The North East needs rail investment now.

We call on @FionaHyslop to ask @LNER @stuartthomas to schedule the trains to and from Aberdeen on the new 4hr path now, not just those that originate in Edinburgh. Customers traveling the furthest would benefit the most from this new saving, ahead of the promised £200m for the NE.

Aberdeen to Central Belt £200m rail upgrade delivery date 'dropped' despite 2026 promise. Only 8% of promised funds spent 8 years on. If financing & outcomes aren't delivered the people of the #northeast will know they have been betrayed again.
