Gulf countries, long haunted by the specter of Iranian aggression, quietly welcome these developments. They may not say it aloud, but behind closed doors, the relief is real. For years, they’ve invested in missile defense and counterterrorism, all in anticipation of this moment.

The people of the Middle East deserve sovereignty, not to be foot soldiers in Tehran’s failed revolution.

Just a few weeks before that dark day, I sat in a closed-door security briefing in a European capital, watching senior Iranian officials rage over the momentum behind Saudi-Israeli normalization. Their fury was palpable. Their intentions were clear.

Let us not forget: Hamas committed October 7th on behalf of Tehran, to sabotage the nearing normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia. The Islamic Republic could not tolerate a future in which Sunni Arab states and the Jewish state forged peace.

And let’s be clear: Israel’s Iron Dome is more than a defense system. It’s a symbol of a country that invests in protecting civilians. In an era where too many regimes hide behind human shields, Israel shields its humans.

This moment could also mark a domestic turning point. Everyone in Israel backs the decision to strike and dismantle the Islamic Republic so this is a unifying event for Israel. Netanyahu’s legacy could finally be restored after his government’s failures leading up to October 7.

A future in which an Iranian nuclear project doesn’t force neighboring Sunni Arab states to develop their own nuclear projects as insurance policy (because that's not a viable solution.).

Israel is not just fighting Iran, she is fighting for the future of the Middle East. A future where theocratic regimes don’t get to weaponize proxies, hijack Palestinian suffering, or sabotage regional peace (over and over again) from behind smoke and slogans.
