The promise to protect already legally admitted refugees as members of our communities must be honored. To renege on our commitment would betray American values of welcome and fairness. CMS urges members of Congress and state and local officials to oppose this inhumane proposal.

Refugees admitted to the US through USRAP are already vetted by multiple US federal agencies. To force them to go through a duplicative process and risk being stripped of or denied permanent legal status is profoundly cruel and a waste of government resources.

The reported Trump administration plan to re-interview and reconsider the legal status of as many as 233,000 refugees admitted to America during the Biden administration is a harmful and reactionary policy intended to cause fear and uncertainty. https://t.co/fML1en68mr

The decision would potentially affect more than 200,000 refugees, including those who are green-card holders.

The 2025 @CMSnewyork Academic and Policy Symposium did not disappoint. Three main takeaways: âś… The messenger is as important as the message âś… Broadening the tent on immigration is a strategic must âś… We need to be ready to quickly advance affirmative changes
