Anyway…with that being said, if any site is looking for someone with 7+ years experience covering Pro Wrestling, MMA, Boxing, and every major sport with major sites such as Fightful, WZ, Wrestling Inc., and more, hmu on here on email me cfaria2396 @ gmail dot com!
Thank you!
I reach out Monday morning and he doesn’t respond for a few hours but when he does, he tells me it’s a company-wide holiday, so it’s a no-go, once again.
I, again, just want to see how far he takes this BS, so I *happily* accept and move to the next day (cont).
It’s now Tuesday (yesterday)…he HILARIOUSLY tells me he wants to ‘expedite the interview process’ and interviews me via email that morning.
We work out the details, boom, everything looks good, let’s do it.
My first day is today, after doing a few things yesterday (cont).
I was scheduled to begin at 6pm UK time (Noon, my time)…and work for eight hours.
Great, awesome, let’s do this.
He messages me at 9:40am my time (over 2 hours before my shift time) and asks why I haven’t wrote anything yet? (cont).
I explain how he specifically asked me to start at 6pm UK time and he very, very sarcastically says ‘ok, it’s fine, you can just start at 6 I guess’.
So, I’m just thinking, whatever, I won’t have to deal with him directly too much, let’s just relax before work (cont).
I begin promptly at Noon (6pm UK time) and write (without any direction or structure, by the way), and I select 11 news articles, in addition to 2 transcriptions to work on.
I have those ALL submitted by 2pm (my time).
250+ words each, 11 articles, 2 transcriptions (cont).
For non-writers, wrestling media, 11 articles and 2 transcriptions in less than 2 hours is a very, very, good output, I think anyone would say that.
Then all of those were briefly looked at by the editor and were published BY THE EDITOR, with MINIMAL TO ZERO changes (cont).
Being all of those were submitted to the website and posted on their social media channels as well as being front and center on their home page with virtually no edits, it probably means I did a decent job with the piece and it wasn’t just a rushed piece of garbage (cont).
I then receive an email just after 2pm my time (just over 2 hours after my shift starts) and Matthew informs me that my output and quality of work don’t match their expectations and they’re voiding my spot there (cont).
Now, let’s pretend 11 articles + 2 transcriptions in 2 hours is complete dog shit and lets pretend that I’m an awful writer.
How embarrassing are you and your editors that all of my work is CURRENTLY POSTED TO YOUR SITE EXACTLY HOW I WROTE THEM? (cont).
So, is it that you and your team are the worst lot of editors in the business or are you just a piece of shit that ran me around over a month just to let me go after 2 hours of doing more work than he could produce in 2 days?
Which is it, Matt?
Embarrassing operation. (cont).
@SteveFall
@sescoops
Appreciate the kind words, Steve! One of the transcriptions I referred to was your interview with John Morrison! Was great as always!
@ColbsMMA
Holy shit i'm so sorry this happened to you. I didn't think I could respect you more than I already do but seeing your professionalism in this highly unprofessional situation changed that!
@ColbsMMA
It's a little different being at a paper but I don't think I write 11 pieces per week. Apples to oranges but still, that's a great work rate, brother.
I'm team Cultaholic now.
@ColbsMMA
you see theres a reason why
@Cultaholic
guys upped and left and created their own place whatcultre has not been good since they left and just gets worse every month the more they force hated presenters at us
@ColbsMMA
@SeanRossSapp
As someone who really enjoys Cultaholic and Triple Jump's work, I find this sooooo surprising. /sarcasm
Hope you find somewhere that values your work!
@ColbsMMA
I travelled cross-country for an interview with them and never even got the courtesy of a rejection after being promised the world at the interview.
