@ciesin’s #NASAsedac Hazards Mapper displays near-real-time data on fires, earthquakes, air quality+for the U.S., flood+tornado warnings. It can also estimate population in proximity to a hazardous event and identify nearby facilities at risk.
Eyes in the sky are becoming an increasingly important tool for boots on the ground when it comes to fighting wildfires, as data from a growing number of satellites give firefighters new tools to predict fire behaviour and analyze its consequences.
