1/ 🧵 Contemporary evidence supports moving from EtCO₂ ventilation strategies toward precision guided ventilation using real-time PaCO₂. That’s the direction of travel for prehospital neurocritical care—and it’s how we tighten neuroprotection. I will explain in this thread

This is the right atrial depth (RAD). It is a measurement from the sternum down to the center of the right atrium that we can use to calculate the jugular venous pressure (JVP) and estimate the right atrial pressure (RAP).

(3/x) So what's the problem? Even if it isn't that useful it can't be harmful... well, it sometimes leads people to not consider other more evidence based markers of CPR quality during cardiac arrest. ETCO2 Diastolic Blood Pressure on A-line (TEE --> if getting fancy)

(5/x) During CPR to ensure high CPR quality I look for: 1. Rate and Depth of compressions 2. Full recoil 3. CPR NOT too high (which it often is!) 4. Avoid overventilation 5. If EtCO2 unexpectedly low, consider whether we are compressing of LVOT or aorta instead of LV. In that
