I don't know which Conservatives need to hear this but the PM is not going to fly coach, take cabs, eat in food courts and stay in the cheapest hotel available.

I'm no con, but why not? I'm annoyed by the "entitlement" of politician and high end hotel food etc. How about a 80% reduction in all travel, moving to video conference. In person is an expensive and an environmental nightmare we don't need it

They only want Liberal & NDP PM’s to demonstrate that kind of austerity. When they are in power they have larger cabinets & spend more on luxury & travel than anyone. Conservative=fiscal responsibility is a well tended myth.

Plus London during an event like this, the prices always go sky high, unless you expected our PM to carry a tent with him, hoping he can find a camp ground somewhere near to London.

And I'm certain that Stephen Harper did not travel cheap. I remember he had a limo flown to India because he thought the local cars weren't good enough for him.

and I would suggest if they are carping about the prices, they should check to see how much hotel rooms cost in London, and then check to see how much more those rooms would cost during a funeral for the Queen ...
