Conservatives all over X tonight saying they support Ukraine but they don't want to fund them. "Help Canadians first" is what they say. So please tell me (with examples) when Conservatives have EVER helped the poor in Canada.
@ButlerLonney
Who said anything about the poor? We want taxes cut and debt paid off.
The poor generally choose to be poor because we enabled them and the way to get them out of that is to provide incentives related to doing better and trying harder! Never handouts
@Woah_nelly_14
Yes. Hungry kids and the CPC said no. It's funny too because when they complain about sending money to Ukraine it's always "Canadians are using food banks" as their main argument.
@visitorsdigest
He created the UCCB and made it taxable income so it did next to nothing for child poverty. Trudeau made it non taxable and lowered child poverty. Before the UCCB we had the National Child Benefit. Again, non taxable. Before that it was the Family Allowance (1944) non taxable.
@ButlerLonney
Not saying help the poor. Saying keep taxpayer money in Canada. Donβt give it away to foreign countries. Poor have enough safety nets. Middle class is being decimated to support everyone else. Time to stop this.
@ButlerLonney
The oil boom of the 1990s and 2000s helped lift and keep more people from poverty than any "program". Economic development is what's needed and Canadas is being sabotaged at the federal level.
@HiramRichardso6
How so? Trudeau bought a pipeline. How many did the last CPC government build? And oil prices are determined by the global market, not Trudeau. The 90s had a Liberal government.
@ButlerLonney
Literally Conservatives help the poor everyday by reducing debt (squandering our childrenβs future earnings) and creating an economic environment where βthe poorβ can find meaningful jobs. Money re-allocation doesnβt make βthe poorβ rich, meaningful jobs rise them out of poverty
@shouse416
Really? When? Harper had the worst economic performance of any PM since WW2. Mulroney wasn't much better. Liberals have always outperformed Conservatives on the jobs front and economically.
@ButlerLonney
Well I was living in ndp ran BC making 12$hr. I came to Alberta and instantly was at 23hr and with lower taxes, lower cost of living, went to a trade school and now making close to 100k a year.
Lower taxes and lower cost of living was because of conservative policies.
