She's doing God's work. Just talking about this topic w/my aunt on Saturday. I hate to see black kids, especially the girls, walking around w/dry, unkempt hair styles bc parents refuse to learn to do their hair. This often the case for Black-mixed kids too.
I've seen the shame some of these kids experience, especially if they have 3c, or 4a-c hair. I wasn't adopted or come from a mixed family but in 3rd grade a group of yt kids at my new school surrounded me & taunted me bc of my n-word hair, lips, nose, color & budding breasts.
I'm ashamed to admit I wanted nothing more than to have smooth yt hair. My mother (w/her 2b/c curls) was not particularly gifted w/black hair. I cringe looking at all my elementary school pix. Eventually she started farming out hair duties to the hairdresser.

My ambiguous black mother wasn't much better. We were using Herbal Essences on our hair growing up. We did use hair oil though.

OMG, my niece needs this sooo bad. Her mother (also mixed) doesn't do anything to their hair other than brush it straight once a month. Terrible.

The hair texture is different. Curly, coarse hair tends to get dry at the ends because the coils in the hair shaft prevent the oils from sliding down the shaft like with straight hair. We also may have different textures throughout our hair. Dry hair breaks easier too.
