Bill calling on party switchers to return donations and face a special election has just been released. Without naming her explicitly, bill identifies votes cast for and against then-Dem Tricia Cotham in 2022 election before she switched parties less than six months later.

Sen. Natasha Marcus says donors would have to request a refund. Legislators would then be required to return the money.
"If you pay for a sweet tea at the drive thru window and get an unsweetened tea, you should be able to get your money back," Marcus says.

So…a bill encouraging party switchers to remain in their elected party for fear of financial loss and special election.…while they support their new party preference enabling the new party to call its work bipartisan and say that the bills passed with bipartisan support.
@BryanRAnderson
I doubt it'll pass, but I like the idea.

should also target other potential issues, like George Santos - level campaign dishonesty, that warrant a recall.
@BryanRAnderson
If they want to switch parties they should run as a candidate of that party after their current term expires.

This bill will never pass with the current make-up of the 2 chambers, there does need to be consequences for someone who switches parties in the middle of a term.
@triciacotham
did her voters wrong, and she will pay in the next election. We here at NewBlueNC will make sure to it.
