Oldham Athletic, the first team who’ve played in the Premier League to get relegated to the National League. Remember them growing up with plastic pitch, making cup semi finals and always being a decent team. Shocking how these owners ruin clubs #Oldham

@BrettBrookes Had a good side under Joe Royle, Andy Ritchie was a great little striker, had a cracking game at Hillsboro against em that finished 2-2.

@top7664 I remember beating them 2-0 on the plastic under Bassett. They’d not lost at home for something like 40 games. Back then plastic pitches were like concrete not like the 4G now 😂

@BrettBrookes My first ever away match on a National Coach Pond St. 17 December 1977 second division, just googled it. The memory will always stick with me, we lost 3-0.

@BrettBrookes Personally I blame the inception of the PL. Only 4 teams matter (whether it's real money or not). The rest make up the numbers and the majority don't stand a chance of competing. Oldham's demise stems from being in the PL. Viz Derby, Bradford et al.

@BrettBrookes Yeah, in our wonder season in 90/91, they won the old 2nd division (Championship). We went up in 3rd place. Absolutely criminal what has happened to them and just shows it could happen to anyone 🙄
