The importance of research to reduce delays in access to help, develop new treatments, especially in the area of early detection could help offer opportunities for young people. Please help us on #WorldBipolarDay #WorldBipolarDay2023 to reach people who may be interested
Most people with bipolar experience their 1st symptoms before age 19, but average time to diagnosis is 9.5 yrs. Delays in treatment could worsen outcomes. Find out about our latest research in this area: https://t.co/VV0XTXboG7

UK ethnic minority participants are #underrepresented across #research + clinical trials but as likely as white counterparts to consent to take part in a clinical trial, but to do so, need to be invited and provided with the #opportunity.

People from UK ethnic minority groups experiencing #moodswings are more likely to experience #misdiagnosis which impacts their ability to access intervention strategies e.g. evidence-based medications and psychological therapy

#NIHR have awarded additional funding to prioritise the #inclusive delivery of BART II given there is no significant difference in the prevalence of bipolar disorder across ethnicity groups yet research is typically #underrepresenting UK ethnic minority participants
