I am moving on and today is my last day in @UniKentSAC (as was). From Monday I will be moving to @KMMSmedschool where I’ll be teaching future doctors the ways of evolutionary anthropology and human sexuality (among other things). An exciting new start!

This is what’s keeping me going - there is a tremendous Kent Anthropology legacy out there……I have to remember I made a difference.
@DrSarahJohns So much of what that department gave will live on in the alumni and the networks it created. Its closure is beyond comprehension. It was unique and special. Thank you all.

Anthropology is closing at Kent. We were unsuccessful in persuading management to retain this diverse and dynamic subject area. This spells the end for Social Anthropology, Biological Anthropology and Ethnobotany. Done. https://t.co/aEDG00OI4y

In a polarised world where knowledge about and tolerance for human diversity is in decline, we need anthropology more than ever. The closure of a leading department in the UK is a terrifying portent of where societal priorities are heading.
