Why are the utility poles in the middle of the sidewalk on Avenue Road?

@Beth_Levy66 Interestingly, this wouldn’t matter much if we had a road diet and sidewalk widening #beautifulstreets . PS might add dedicated bike lane too 😉

@Thepowerdresser True. It’s really quite awful on Avenue road.

@Beth_Levy66 Don't know why, what with all sidewalks & such being repaired/torn up, they don't simply Bury the lines & remove the poles. Keeps freezing rain/falling branches from damaging the lines. Brampton does this All over the city.

@GagsMaur Yup! That’s my neighbourhood. Sidewalks are way too narrow.

@Beth_Levy66 It's so narrow that near Dupont there are barricades to keep you from walking on the street (or cars coming on the sidewalk ?)

@beautyvixenca We have those same barriers along Avenue north of Eglinton where hundreds of kids walk to school to attend #Allenby #MarshallMcluhan and daycare. It’s an awful accident waiting to happen.

@Beth_Levy66 Cyclists are more important to the city than pedestrians. And there are 20 times more pedestrians than cyclists. Half of cyclists are also dangerously inconsiderate of pedestrians.

@Beth_Levy66 Because City planners didn’t think when they expanded sidewalks 🤷‍♂️

@Beth_Levy66 I suspect sidewalks were extended but initially these poles were nearer the curb.

@Beth_Levy66 @TorontoDDG And the sidewalks get even narrower than that approaching St Clair (and still with utility poles in the middle!)
