One of my students argued that the cost of living in NYC now outweighs the other pros of living here (fun, cultural diversity). In 3-5 years, the most important cultural producers likely won't live in NYC. Which is already true tbh we just haven't acknowledged it yet 😀

Rn moving to another city feels hard bc it's hard to make friends and to meet other trans ppl, but as the NYC exodus begins that will prob be less and less true

Not Saying any of this is “good,” the NYC exodus will prob lead to like, white trans ppl gentrifying mid-size midwestern cities. Almost like the only long term solution is decommodifying housing and also everything 😀
