I’d disagree. Ray Rice was a top RB in the NFL and never played again. The NFL’s values are screwed up but not every team is necessarily morally corrupt.
If Matt Araiza had been a highly drafted QB he would not have been released…they would “let the process play out.” Doing the right thing is infinitely easier to do when it’s a punter. That’s the reality of the NFL. It’s “bigger than football” when you can afford for it to be.
@chatham58
Not the same. Ray Rice was pretty valuable at the time of the incident. Definitely beyond the value of a punter.
I guess my question is… Are you defending the Browns in this situation?

The difference is that the Ray Rice thing was on tape. This case is still up in the air and there's already contradicting stories floating out there.

Ray Rice was not the same ray rice when that happened, Sure he was still good but at that point he was on the downside of his career he played last in either 2013 or 2014 and I know he did not have a 1000 yd season and may a few tds

The fact they had already investigated and decided to keep him is all the proof. When it went public and became made them look bad they dropped him

He only got burned bc he was caught on film doing it. When it happened, they were looking at a few games, then the video came out and boom, then couldn’t justify it. Backlash came for them and they FINALLY did what they should have done from the beginning.

Fair. It’s just cool a team did what it’s supposed to do. Maybe we celebrate that a bit instead of immediately going negative like everyone always seems to do.

They also had a video of Ray Rice that EVERYONE saw. If 1 video of Deshaun Watson doing what he did was leaked online, it would have changed the process too. I'm sure he still wouldn't have been punished enough by the NFL, but maybe the courts.
