Wilfried Singo is the complete RB Arsenal need. A flying-RWB turned RCB in a back 3, his transfer to Monaco will do wonders for his development📈💥
6’3” duel monster, strong ball-carrier, freak athlete with top physicality & ability on the ball. What’s not to love?👀🤔

Singo is a crazy athlete. A pacey, powerful RB/RCB who’s physically dominant in all duels. His upper body strength is no match for most wingers. Being 6’3” & so strong, playing on the right side of defence gives Singo insane potential as a 1v1 beast.
Let me put you on to Singo…
Already, Singo has displayed very good tackling ability in the timing of his slide tackles when needing to make them. Generally he’ll catch players using his recovery pace then will make the tackle in a more favourable body position.
Dynamism is one of Wilfried Singo’s best strengths. He loves to have the ball and take on players. At Torino he was a flying RWB who would bomb up the right-wing overlapping attackers and delivering accurate crosses into the box.
Singo as a RWB was a threat in the final third due to how the different ways he could get at the defence. 1.50 shots p90 last season (Serie A) show he was regularly taking shots despite being a ‘defender’, then his dribbling & passing ability meant you couldn’t give him any space
When coming inside, Singo has quick feet on the ball. You almost forget he’s 6’3” because of how agile he seems on the ball. Doesn’t always look ‘tidy’ but he’s effective. Singo has 1.44 successful take-ons (top 12% for FBs) giving a take-on success rate of 62.3% (top 2%).
Singo’s passing is impressive. He passes through the lines and plays well weighted through balls to players in central areas from difficult angles along the right flank. He often looks to play long passes over the top of the defence to beat the press & create chances for the ST.
4.39 completed long passes puts Singo in the top 12% for full-backs. These completed long passes come from 7.30 long passes attempted, giving a success rate of 60.1% (top 15%). His passes into the final third are fairly high with 4.01 (top 19%) & 4.39 progressive passes per 90.
With an exceptional jumping ability and being 6’3”, there’s no surprise that Singo is dominant in the air. He’s won 2.57 aerial duels (top 1%) and has an aerial duel success rate of 71.6% (top 1%). Generally, a lot of wingers are smaller, so he dominates against them in box boxes
Singo is quite one footed. To help the technical side to his game I’d like to see him develop his weak-foot ability and increase how much he uses it in-game. This will allow him to come inside on his left foot to have a better technical base and be even more press resistant.
The main area for improvement for Singo is his decision-making. Not necessarily on the ball though, mainly in defensive situations. He’s still a raw player defensively and you can tell he’s a more attack minded defender who’s been converted into a RCB.
Previously as a RWB at Torino he had defensive responsibility of defending wide areas but also would drive up the pitch a lot creating in the final third. This was where he was so dangerous due to his pnp along with his passing ability & ball-carrying.
But Singo’s defensive intelligence is something easily fixable. It’s more to do with concentration and coaching, but also experience playing as a CB. Over the course of this season, he should improve in this area and become a more complete player.
Wilfried Singo would be my number 1 RB target for Arsenal. Right now, we have White as the starting RB and Tomiyasu who can play there too. Also, there’s Timber but I think when he’s back he’ll be the starter for LB as Zinchenko’s upgrade and cover CB & RB too.

There’s room for another defender in Arsenal’s squad. If we bring one in I’d love it to be a physical monster with elite 1v1 defending potential but also quality on the ball, good carrier, able to tuck in as the 3rd CB, invert into midfield or overlap Saka. Singo ticks every box.
Singo could be a rotation option at RCB even once his defending ability improves, but most of all at RB he’s such a complete profile & would have elite potential. Just like Timber, Singo can be both a lockdown brick-wall defender & a technical player dangerous in the final phase.
Monaco signed Singo for €10m from Torino in the summer. An absolute bargain. How no other club seriously approached Torino for him I don’t know, but now I’d assume signing Singo from Monaco would be double this fee. For Arsenal, €20m-€30m would be a steal.
Hopefully if Arsenal do bring in a RB, Wilfried Singo is a player they’re looking at. Maybe they’ll return the favour in us selling Folarin Balogun to them. Whatever happens, Singo will be a top class defender.
