I love movies :)
Paramount is focused on making IP & commercial films going forward • They’ve dramatically scaled back their budget in awards campaigns • One source says 'They have no interest in anything but down-the-middle IP. It’s all about commerciality' (via @THR)

Idk why I'm tweeting this bc I know it's going to make ppl mad, but I think the real thing people have forgotten & overlooked about Avatar is not its "cultural impact" but the fact that it was the primary instrument for killing mainstream 35mm film exhibition

A banger. Merli punches out and shoots a bunch of dudes, Milian does his psycho bit (though a bit more restrained here) and Saxon is great as usual (and rocks one hell of a mustache). Good score too. Couldn’t ask for anything more.

a couple years back we learned that *major cast members* of Netflix Originals like Orange Is The New Black (streaming) made ~$28 in residual checks. for comparison, i appeared in *non-speaking* roles for The Eric Andre Show on Adult Swim (cable) and make ~$400 whenever it airs
I still get residuals for doing an episode of The Deuce for HBO. Then I did an ep of Netflix’s The Four Seasons and got paid for one day only, but they own my image in perpetuity and it’s had over 2 billion streams!

Physical media copies of these films worth their weight in gold
As others have mentioned: buy physical WB titles (especially Warner Archive) stuff now! Remember when Disney bought the Fox library and the classic titles just stopped being released on disc? You'll be lucky to find anything classic on disc.

Warner Bros. has the greatest restoration & preservation ops in Hollywood. At any time they are remastering DOZENS of films & cartoons with groundbreaking proprietary tech. Many of these are released MONTHLY thru the Warner Archive. I will feel SICK if anything happens to them.
Today, Netflix announced our acquisition of Warner Bros. Together, we’ll define the next century of storytelling, creating an extraordinary entertainment offering for audiences everywhere. https://t.co/rXPFMNIs1A

the nosferatu commentary is really a treasure trove and i've listened to it like 5 times. "this foot going into the box full of rats was mine because no one else would do it" yeah of course
Werner Herzog movies are great because when you listen to the director's commentary he says shit like, "ya zees mummies in ze opening vere actually real. I found zem in Mexico when I vas vorking as a poor bull rider." And then he just continues on about other stuff.

It's really grim how much the frog has been boiled in terms of imperial brutality. I remember Abu Gharib, I remember the collateral murder video. Those were actual scandals, not bragging points. Yes the GWOT era laid the infrastructure for now, but the moral infrastructure is new

Former Judge Andrew Napolitano, who worked alongside Pete Hegseth for years at Fox, says the Sept. 2 boat strike is "an act of a war crime." "Everybody along the line who did it, from the secretary of Defense, to the admiral, to the people who actually pulled the trigger should

I'm shocked—this is a tremendous honor. February is Screen Slate's 15th anniversary. It's grown from a solo project to encompass the work of hundreds of contributors: editors, writers, devs, designers, listing updaters. Plus: the best readership on the planet. Thank you @nyfcc
