Actress, comedian and writer Ruth Jones, best known for co-creating and co-starring in the BBC TV series ‘Gavin and Stacey’, gave a keynote speech at the pre-Summit dinner sharing her experience of working within the creative industries.

During yesterday’s BIC Summit programme delegates enjoyed showcases from Wales’ screen, music, digital and publishing sectors. Diolch yn fawr i chi am eich amser.

The 44th BIC Summit took place today and was hosted by the @WelshGovernment. Leaders from the BIC’s eight administrations discussed measures to unlock the full potential of the Creative Industries of these islands, as well as topical political developments.

This week, the @WelshGovernment will host the 44th British-Irish Council Summit, bringing together leaders of its eight members and focusing on the creative industries.

This presented a good opportunity for officials to meet with local stakeholders to learn about measures being taken to upskill young people.

Yesterday, Energy Work Sector officials were given a tour by @scotent of the Grangemouth industrial cluster before meeting with staff at @FVCollege to tour their skills transition centre.

.@scotgov are hosting the @BICSecretariat Energy Work Sector in Grangemouth today. Officials will be visiting the local industrial cluster and meeting stakeholders engaged in the Grangemouth Just Transition Plan.

Finally, counterparts working @MerchantsQuayIR gave a tour of their facilities and talked about the range of services they offer those with addiction issues within the homeless community.

The group met staff at the Dublin Simon Community’s Usher’s Island facility to learn about the ongoing work to provide specialist care to those suffering from alcohol and drug use disorders.

Today the BIC Drugs and Alcohol Work Sector visited two charities in Dublin: @MerchantsQuayIR and the Dublin Simon Community’s Usher’s Island facility.

As part of this event we were given an informative showcase of community initiatives being trialled across Ireland.

Yesterday, the BIC Drugs & Alcohol Work Sector met with a series of organisations supporting those with substance use disorders.

. @roinnslainte are hosting @BICSecretariat Drugs & Alcohol Work Sector in Dublin this week. As part of the visit officials from across the eight administrations will be exploring initiatives being employed to tackle drug and alcohol misuse.
