• don’t fill every spare second with scrolling • put your phone out of reach for 20 min, open a book, set a timer. If you’re still not into it, get up, do something else, great job reading for 20 min! If you get lost in it, well, you’re welcome! xoxoxo keep reading! love u!

• if you’re having a hard time reading, go somewhere you don’t have obligations. At home, I “should” be doing laundry, but at the park, I get to read ✨

• read everything at once. I’m reading maybe 25 books rn. If your history book isn’t a page turner even though it’s fascinating, read a novel then come back to it • no genre is too cringe if *you* like it. Period.

• books are visual too, flip around if walls of text isn’t your jam. I went to art school. In the words of Andy Warhol, “I never read, I only look at pictures”

• if you don’t like it, don’t finish it. • your taste is your taste • read things that are interesting to you, not because you’re “supposed” to have read them to be allowed to consider yourself “well-read,” and new classics are written every year, history is not static

Tips for reading more: • write in your books! You own them! It helps me understand what I read and think critically, or to simply laugh • buying books and reading books are different hobbies • always carry a small paperback, you never know when you’ll have 5 minutes
