The BCHL lost one of our own over the weekend as we learned of the passing of former West Kelowna Warrior Parm Dhaliwal.

The BCHL announced today that the league has renamed it's Top Goaltender Award as the Michael Garteig Trophy, named after the former Powell River Kings and Penticton Vees goalie who holds several BCHL goaltending records!

Following this morning's announcement that the BCHL will become an independent league next month, this video will help explain the reasons why and also look ahead to the exciting future of the league.
The lone award voted on by the BCHL broadcasters is the Joe Tenant Memorial Trophy for Coach of the Year.
This year's winner is Jason Fortier of the Coquitlam Express! Fortier led the team to franchise highs in wins and points as well as the best record in the BCHL.
The BCHL acknowledged today that the ownership group of the Wenatchee Wild have acquired a WHL franchise and will not operate in the BCHL in 23-24.

The BCHL has renamed its Broadcaster of the Year Award the Jim Hughson Award, named after the longtime NHL broadcaster who called 12 Stanley Cup Finals and got his start broadcasting BCJHL games in the '70s in Penticton and Kelowna.

Just three months into the regular season, the BCHL has broken its record for NCAA Division I committed players! The previous high of 190 was surpassed with the new high-water mark set at 193 and counting.
DETAILS:
The BCHL has unveiled the initial 18 skaters that will take part in the 3-on-3 outdoor All-Star Game in Penticton on Jan. 15. One skater from each team will participate, while the remaining slots will be selected through a fan vote starting tomorrow!
