When seen at night from space, Southeast Asia looks like the most colorful and vibrant place on Earth. This timelapse is a rainbow of fishing boats, multi-spectrum city lights, thunderstorms, offshore platforms, and fires.

I took these images on my first mission to the ISS in 2003. They are old but great visuals of the effect.

The Belt of Venus, seen from the ISS. An atmospheric phenomena where the setting sun projects light past Earth's horizon curve, layered over its shadow. Twilight observers on Earth see a pink band over the approaching dark, opposite the sun. From orbit we see it all at once.

Whenever you see the ISS from Earth, WE aboard the ISS cannot see you! When ISS is exposed in sunlight, our window reflectivity blinds us! We can only see you when you cannot see us! Same effect as how you cannot see through your kitchen window at night when the lights are on!
