@WHO 6/🧵 We also discuss the importance of #settingsbased approaches and ecological translation. Tailoring interventions to specific contexts, eg through EMIs or #digitalhealth, and modifying these, especially for marginalized populations is at the core of #publicmentalhealth

5/🧵 Similarly, participatory approaches are needed to understand the needs of the target population and empower them. #HumanCenteredDesign and the @WHO framework for meaningful engagement provide helpful guidance here. #mentalhealth

4/🧵 #Intersectionality theory can help to identify the "causes of causes" here and find remedies that address these. Rooted in Black feminism (Crenshaw, 1989), it provides better understanding of social identities as well as societal structures of priviledge and oppression.

3/🧵 Addressing systematic #inequities should be at the core of equitable interventions. We discuss the "vulnerable populations approach" and the "inequity paradox" that might ultimately exacerbate health inequities if marginalized populations are not considered

2/🧵 We first dive into dimensional approaches as a foundation to "shift the curve" of mental health, as suggested by Geoffrey Rose. Framing psychopathology as a continuum, ie as done in #HiTOP, is a key step and should also include measures of positive #mentalhealth & recovery
