Here is my annual effort post on the scientific invalidity of psychology, written because someone recently suggested I would benefit from seeing a therapist. The truth is everything worth learning from psychology or psychotherapy can be derived from common sense, your
THIS IS WHY MEN WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH THERAPY! This is a DOCTOR btw. A clinical psychologist. I don’t know if this is an ethical violation, but with her demonstrated anti-male beliefs she should not be anywhere near any male patients!

Suppose that once a week, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to £100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this: The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay £1. The sixth would pay £3.

Yeah, I mean, I have to say, if the big problem with all these places is just that they can’t govern effectively, so much so, in fact, that their people need to come to be governed by us, then I’m a little bit confused about why being governed by us in their own countries is
Erik Prince makes the excellent point that most people would strongly prefer to stay in their own country - they just want Western governance There's a simple & mutually beneficial way to provide it

Long, but important post…bookmark and read later if you don’t have time now I want people to understand a difference between the American Revolution and the “Woke” French Revolution The American Revolution embodied sober conservatism: frontier-bred intellectuals crafted a

It's tiresome that my "for you" feed tends to be full of the dumbest and most easily rebutted arguments of all time, but man... This one is up there. Rights, as a concept, are meaningless if they cannot be applied universally. Nothing can have rights that cannot also respect
I hate how everyone is missing the point of this tweet. They are not saying that pigs are humans they are saying that conscious non humans are also persons. Like Superman is not human but most would say he is a person.

I'm so relieved Congress finally condemned socialism. I was seriously worried we might end up with: - tax rates up to 40% - forced wealth transfers from working age people to retirees - taxpayer dollars funneled straight to insurance companies and Big Pharma - and the federal

If only we could still build urban steps in this country. Bonus points of you can build them with a parallel funicular.
@Ortho_Dixie You definitely get that vibe when you climb the steps instead of taking a bus or the overpriced funicular..

There's a half of the Icarus myth no one tells. Daedalus gave his son Icarus two warnings: 1. Don't fly too close to the sun; the wax will melt. 2. Don't fly too close to the sea; the sea spray will weigh down the feathers. Everyone remembers the first. Hubris. Overreach. We

Did you ever learn how socialism stole the first Thanksgiving? The Pilgrims first tried a socialist system where they shared fields, shared food, equal rations. But Bradford wrote in his journal that the young men “complained that they should work for other men’s wives and

I really don’t understand what people want here. “I don’t like being around babies.” Well then go kill yourself. I don’t care. I mean literally just go shoot yourself in the head and then you won’t have to be around babies anymore. What are you talking about? I’m sorry that you

To address the point about the cost of stations; most stations are wildly overbuilt at first. There is no good reason to do more than this until an urban node is built up around the transit stop. Even the first picture is "a lot".

$70M/mile! That's ~7x more than it costs to build a highway in Austin. Something is terribly wrong. According to physics, railroads should be closer to $3M/mile. @grok elaborates: "From pure physics and commodity prices: A kilometer of double-track railroad requires roughly 1/5
Austin can be retarded. This light rail plan is going to cost $7.1 BILLION, give 10 miles of city access, & provide 28k daily rides. Instead, they could use that money to purchase 2,800 @Tesla Robotaxis at ~$100 MILLION and serve the same amount of riders to 100% of the city.

If I can’t fire you, I can’t hire you. https://t.co/IxjFHlkJz4
In most African countries (especially mine), labor laws are so rigid that they end up hurting the very people they claim to protect. If an employer knows they can’t let someone go when things don’t work out, they just don’t hire in the first place. As I always say: “If I

I just re-read these books to my kids. Pa was a crazy person. He took his wife and 3 daughters where they lived near their entire family ... and moved to Kansas, then built a house 100 feet from a major trail used by the PLAINS INDIANS!

This still works in hard-core build-by-right areas. Historically a town would plat lots and you could build to the lot line. No further questions asked. Now cities want so much more that it's very hard to self-build. Easy to fix if we want (and we should fix it).
Myself and nearly every zoomer I know personally could build a sears catalogue home by hand like our great grandparents did.

New rule: cars have to be Affordable, so that monthly car payments are less than 10% of median income. Any luxury cars that are not sold at Affordable prices will include extra fees to fund Affordable cars produced by nonprofits.

Laws to fix other laws. Round and round we go.
This is so stupid. Just let them turn off the backup sound. This is an autonomous vehicle shooting out laser beams in all directions. It can stop automatically if it sees anything. We don’t need a backup sound in the charging lot. And we need these cars serving the community.
