2/3 At each cluster, soil moisture sensors are installed at three locations, covering vertical depths of 30, 60, and 90 cm. In the future, we plan to expand these installations across the mid-slope and lower-slope topographic gradients.

1/3 We established two clusters of soil moisture sensors in the Kataula Khad experimental watershed, which drains into the Uhl River. These clusters are located on the north & south-facing aspects of the catchment, specifically in upslope topographic positions & pine systems.

2/2 Our newly installed site got buried under silt & boulders. 🤞till excavation. This completely uninstrumented headwater catchment experiences severe flooding every year. I hope the soon-to-be-established experimental catchment will provide solutions for the local community.

1/2 Himalayan headwater catchments are highly dynamic & vulnerable. Last night, the heavy rainfall caused enormous damage in the Kataula Khad headwater catchment, HP. The flow has surpassed previously calculated HFL, which can be observed by the newly deposited silt layer(> 1m).
