@AlecBinks Dafuq is Meld Studio and what makes it better than OBS? Just curious. I recently changed OBS around on a new PC and it was kind of a nightmare.

@Refl3xes A new streaming/recording software. It's built by creators with ease of use and efficiency in mind. It has effects built in, multi stream, vertical, multi chat, multi track recording and more. Whether it's better or not depends on the user. I'd say give it a try. It has an OBS

@AlecBinks Tried it, it's horrendously bad and tries to enforce things I do not want, does not list all applications as source which alone is a full stop to me for usage. I can't even use a random window I have on screen to display on stream. Misses a lot of core functionality. nope sorry

@totmacherx Good info here. What does it enforce that you don't want? Are some applications just not showing up for you? Are you referring to a window capture for specific things open on your PC?

@AlecBinks Still need to try it out. I just assume they'll do some bait'n switch and offer paid premium features very soon to monetize. So with that in mind I hesitate to leave good old OBS.

@Farbklex91 In a Q&A stream early this year, Meld's CEO discussed how they intend to monetize with premium features while keeping the majority of features most creators use free. Meld's projected premium features will be for power users. One idea they talked about was layer recording so you

@AlecBinks Tried it, but it wouldn’t connect my twitch! So bit of a turn off for me since I couldn’t stream with it 😅 Also it doesn’t have the ability (or not that I could find) to change the layout to whatever you like which you can do with obs, that’s my thoughts on it atm!

@AlecBinks Dabbled with Meld when I was using Windows but since changing my OS to Linux, had to go back to OBS. Meld was superior but it does not play well with my Linux distro.

@SKAvsTheWorld One future feature the CEO talked about out in a Q&A was layer recording. Instead of source recording, you record all layers like normal, but you can move them around in post when editing. They talked about this being a potential paid feature down the line. This feature hasn’t

@AlecBinks Does Meld Studio support "Spout2" or any alternative to minimize the number of screen or game captures? Of course, if it's even a problem in Meld.
