Shall I call myself a proud MUSLIM author?

My identity as a researcher and author will become meaningless if I begin to 'represent' Muslims' views!

Shashi Tharoor too has to justify that he can be Hindu and secular simultaneously. Same will apply to a Muslim as well.

Depends on who is the target. Shashi wrote 'Why I am a Hindu' to counter hardliner Hindus who are trying to hijack Hinduism & denounce him as an anti-Hindu. Your situation is different.
