A very magnificent review of my 48Kg by Samuel Martin
"Batool Abu Akleen writes of amputation and dismemberment, unbearable suffering and sorrow, in order that she, her people, and her land may yet be re-membered with the love, care, and urgency they deserve." Samuel Martin's review of 48KG: https://t.co/prFDQW5CHE

Today I was telling mom how much I really want to eat brownies. She was like, “what…?” Mom even forgot what brownies is… She said she just want to eat bread; this is her biggest dream.

I always refuse being flexible when suddenly everything turns upside down. I don’t know how to make this brain understand that I am in a city where you can put plans for nothing.

I still can’t believe that even in such unbearable conditions, we’re still trying to make this happen 💙
We just finished a session of our Gaza Literary Translation Workshop Series supported by @PalestineWrites, so grateful to PW, the participants, workshop leaders, guest speakers, and especially poet-translator-organizer Batool @AbuAkleen for everything she does so brilliantly.

Heba Al-Agha is the one who taught me how to think and see the world. She was a full-time mentor for dozens of writers. She created a community for young writers. And with Arablit’s help, I am in my way to create a community for young translations
Congratulations to all 16 selected for our inaugural Literary Translation Workshop Series, chosen from among more than 40 who applied. The brainchild of Batool @AbuAkleen, but also & always inspired by Heba Al-Agha.

VOICES OF RESISTANCE🇵🇸 🗓️Pub. Jun 26 These are stories filled with love, humour, & the beauty of Palestinian people & culture. In the face of genocide, the existence of these diaries, like the very survival of their authors, is an act of resistance. 📕 https://t.co/jY9ROd2FmY

Thanks to all who’ve share the translations, and to Arablit for being so supportive. I owe you a lot, guys 💙
Translating them was the most tormenting thing I’ve ever done, but she wants a Resonant Death. Non of us could protect her, but at least let’s talk about her as she wished. Don’t let Fatma become a number.
