Lawyer S. Lee Merritt, who represents the families of Jean and of Jefferson, said Jefferson had been playing video games with a nephew before Saturday's shooting. He said police had provided no connection between the gun found inside the home and the shooting.

#UPDATE : The officer has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The Fort Worth Police Officers Association did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

@AWainwrightTV The cop didn’t know her personally . . . Right? So he SHOULD NOT have been able to know there was a gun in the premises.

@AWainwrightTV Let's wait and see the complete story. Was she in her home with her nephew? Was she threatening to harm herself? Were they concerned for the safety of others in her home? Why was the neighbor concerned enough to call in the first place?

@AWainwrightTV The fact they even mention finding a gun in the home is sickening. They murdered someone and now they want it known there was a gun in the house because they are going to grasp at straws to justify how needlessly scared and on edge the cop was who fired the shots.

@AWainwrightTV The right wing and GOP insist that it's a GOOD thing that so many guns exist in America and that citizens should all have one... So how can they now use that as grounds to be unjustly executed? Are we not all supposed to have guns as Americans??? Or only if white? 🤔

@AWainwrightTV Somebody needs to talk to the nephew and get his side of the story. I’m sure he can disprove any negative comments about his aunt and clarify what really happened that night.

@AWainwrightTV Looking at the video he looks like a creep/burglar/stalker outside walking around. So she probably heard noise and wanted to protect her nephew. I mean Texas has the Castle Doctrine. But wait. Why are we even talking about a gun inside her home? Let's focus on the one outside.
