The maternal mortality rate in the U.S. is unacceptably high, especially among Black, Brown, and Native American women. On #MaternalHealthAwarenessDay, I will continue fighting for reproductive freedoms and to expand maternal healthcare initiatives in our communities.

This Roe Day, we reflect on the courageous abortion care professionals and clinic workers who were targeted and killed for providing abortion care. We lift up their names in memoriam and to remind us all of what is at stake when abortion is stigmatized. https://t.co/UbmGhwnKa4

We will continue to do all that we can to defend doctors’ ability to provide patients with the care they need, patients’ rights to determine their futures, and communities’ capacity to thrive. Today and every day, abortion is health care. #RoeDay #RoevWade

It’s time for Congress to pass a permanent solution to the broken Medicare payment system so that ob-gyns can build sustainable practices, ensuring that they can provide care to patients today and in the future. Make your voice heard:

As stories continue to emerge about the pain pregnant people suffer in states with abortion bans, opponents of abortion claim that it’s doctors’ fault that some patients cannot access care they need. Our new video makes it clear: bans are to blame.

Maternal mortality review committees harness data—one of the most powerful tools we have to save maternal lives—to inform evidence-based solutions. Their work must not be compromised by bias or conflicts of interest. Read our statement: https://t.co/2KBmfVqr5p

ACOG is disappointed that the continuing resolution, while keeping the government open, has cast aside opportunities to make a meaningful difference in maternal and child health. It is critical that in the new Congress, these provisions become priority legislation. 2/2

The original bipartisan funding bill had provisions that would shore up efforts to confront maternal mortality, help keep physician practices open, improve rural health education and readiness, inform prevention of stillbirth, and more. 1/2

As an ob-gyn, you know firsthand that no one should have to experience the tragedy of stillbirth. Urge your members of Congress to support the #SHINEforAutumnAct today to help fill gaps in stillbirth data, research, and education:

Medicare physician payments face another cut on January 1, 2025. Adequate payment helps keep ob-gyn practices open; without it, practices become unsustainable. Communities must have access to care. Congress must act. https://t.co/PED6sebXHf #FixMedicareNow #ObGynsInAction

Do you live in a county without an ob-gyn? It’s more likely than you may think: 35% of U.S. counties—many of them rural—have no ob-gyns. The NHSC and THCGME train future ob-gyns and health care professionals to work in rural areas. #ObGynsInAction 2/3
