Hacking on AI & agents // CTO @humanlayer_dev My other computer is your computer

CLAUDE/AGENTS.md is the highest-leverage configuration point of your coding agent A lot of the guidance floating around on how to use it (including from the labs themselves) is wrong. We distilled some of our learnings after spending all day every day talking to Claude.

Every tool and framework has issues, axios has had nasty ones for example Caching, complexity and magic increase your surface a lot though Vercel responded to it in an exemplary manner this time and the previous times we sent people their way - one got a CVE, GitHub

Ran a bug bounty program for 2 years and on 2-3 occasions I reproduced the exploit internally on a vanilla next app and told the researcher to go submit a disclosure to vercel (we also paid them) 1-2 of them received CVEs

Y’all wouldn’t believe some of the Next.js 0-days I’ve seen Malformed headers that simply crashed the process, or poisoning the cache to only serve 4XX/5XX responses Default next.js app and vercel or default opennext+cloudfront configs

everybody loves to hate on apple software but have you ever tried getting debian to connect to a WPA2-Enterprise network without the right driver plus the windows start menu is written in react native & has a hard-coded delay MacOS is the worst OS besides all the other ones
I'm sick of Apple's software. It's humiliating to have a $4k laptop and hear my music blip just because I queued a song.

claude doesn’t suddenly get dumber two weeks after release, your files are getting too big for claude to read all the way through, keep your codebase modular and you’ll see

I love tanstack but this is correct in general - you should not use alpha software in things that matter a lot
I know people love Tan Stack stuff, and this is an early version, but I'd be careful using this at this point. Looking at the Anthropic adapter alone (the thing responsible for translating their unified API to Anthropic's messages API) I find: - No prompt caching -> good luck

IN CASE IT WAS NOT CLEAR - me and @0xblacklight team will be LIVE in person hacking with the best builders in the bay this SATURDAY 12/6, so if you wanna chat agentic dev, "no vibes allowed", what makes a good claude MD, then come hang and build something cool! might even be a
AI tinkerers is for builders. We were chatting and thought “what would a true hackathon for builders” look like? So we turned down the hype, focused on a small number of good sponsors, found an INCREDIBLE venue, and made space for some real hardcore hacking. For those who know,
